Francesco Attesti is an Italian pianist of international acclaim. Among his generation of musicians, he is considered one of the finest interpreters of the romantic and early twentieth century repertoire. He began practicing the piano at the age of 6 and gave his first concert at 11 performing a transcription of the Toccata and Fugue in D minor by J. S. Bach. He is also a member of Rotary International and is currently touring the U.S. giving recitals. He can be heard on stage at the historic Ariel Opera House Tuesday, November 7 at 6:30 pm.

Attesti will be performing J. S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations BMV 988 consisting off an aria and a set of 30 variations. First published in 1741, the work is considered to be one of the most important examples of variation form ever written. Count Kaiserling, who was often ill and had trouble sleeping requested Bach to compose something for clavier that was lively that therefore he might be cheered up by listening to them during his sleepless nights. The Count had Goldberg play them for him and hence they have ever since been remembered as The Goldberg Variations.

Attesti has studied with a number of prestigious educators, recorded on several different labels and collaborated with a number of contemporary composers including a premiere of Chiavi in Mano by the Pulitzer Prize winning composer Yehudi Wyner with the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of Prague.

Currently, Francesco Attesti performs regularly in internationally prestigious concert halls like Philharmonia Hall of St. Petersburg, Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow, Mozartium of Salzburg and many more.

Reserved seat tickets for Francesco Attesti’s Goldberg Variations are $20 for adults and are available at the Ariel Opera House box office located at 428 Second Ave. in downtown Gallipolis, Ohio or online at arieloperahouse.org.
